OhioNicholas Longworth, a Cincinnati attorney in the early 1800s, is credited with being the father of Ohio's grape industry. By the 1820s he had established vineyards that included the Catawba grape. Eventually the quality of the Ohio River Valley grapes led to the valley's informal designation as the Rhine of America. The second grape area in Ohio sprouted along the shore of Lake Erie. Today this region makes up part of the three-state Lake Erie appelation which stretches through Pennsylvania to New York State.

Ferrante Vineyards, in Ohio's Harpersfield Township, has literally lived grapes since Anna and Nicholas opened their first winery in 1937. Today, seven decades later, the Ferrante family continues to sell wines as well as gourmet grape juice. Their Niagara white grape juice, bottled in festive 750ml style, brings sophistication to one of America's most popular native grapes. | | Red Concord Grape Juice, Ferrante Vineyards
Anna and Nicholas Ferrante made grapes their passion when they began selling wine in 1937. That passion was passed on to sons Peter and Anthony who enlarged the family's Ohio business with wine-making facilities and a restaurant to showcase their wines. But they didn't stop there. Ferrante's rich Concord grape juice is bottled with the same elegance as their alcoholic counterparts. This isn't supermarket Concord grape juice; this is Concord grape juice gone upscale! | | Sparkling Pink Catawba, Old Firehouse Winery
